I bought an '88 XJ6 for 450 dollars thinking that the fuel pump had gone bad. All the symptoms pointed to that and so I replaced it. Worked fine for a while and thought I had found the problem. A little later it wouldn't start for anything and I found I had no spark. I was jiggling the ignition coil and then it fired back up again and ran fine. Left the lights on once and the battery died and when I jumped it I had nothing again. Finally for no reason it came back to life and ran fine again. It did it a 3rd time where I jiggled around the coil and the plug that goes to the ignition amplifier and it came back to life and ran fine even after stopping and starting it.

Now its back to the point where it won't run again. I've got good connection to the coil, good ground there. I can't figure out whats wrong with it.

Any suggestions on what it could be?
