I recently purchased a 96 XJ6 and the steering wheel could be pushed in and pulled out without the control,
I have removed the steering column and can see the plastic anchor that the adjustment threaded rod goes thru has stripped out.
Does anyone have a diagram that shows how to breakdown the column so that I can change out the anchor?

Your 1996 XJ6 is known as an X300, confused, so were we all in the beginning, but, fear not, a simple repost in the X300 section will have answers flowing. That XJ6 is way too modern for the general viewers in here.

I have an X300, but it has the "manual" column adjustment (thank goodness), so I have nothing to offer as far as assistance goes.
