Default adwest rack

1984 series 3 v12
anyone ever removed the nylon thrusts from the inner ball joints, and where
new one may be obtainable or is it down to fitting superpro ones, they don't come with new tie rods according to DAVID MANNERS and they cant help, but I might just fit new ones to my tie rods if I can remove the old ones

I had a look on SNG Barratt's superb site for parts, (superb because it has the parts drawings). For economy, I think you need to go for the Superpro ones on eBAY, as it seems only the full track rod kit is available otherwise, (C45302), see below: -

A lot of money when it's just the plastic cups that are shot.

cheers Fraser, thanks for you imput
trouble is that's the older rack and not the adwest its an alford and alder type it has a different set up for track rods in as much the cup goes right round the ball and locks into the top of it through the slots in the big nut, also the picture shows a spring in the base of the cup which the adwest doesn't have, even the jch web site has this picture for all models,

Hi RGP

Actually SNG Barratt have three racks listed with a diagram for all three, I only posted one, however, I don't think the separate thrust cups are available on any of them. I may be wrong, of course.

Question

I am obviously wrong about the nylon cup going round the ball as they all show the cap as the superpro style, I just cant work out how to get it out without damaging it, I shall send the rack away next week to have the seals changed and ask the specialist guy for his advice.

Stoopid question time ---why would a flexible polybush be better than a solid nylon one in that application?? Would have thought that the less movement the better.

hi anjum the track rod was a bit loose (not excessive) but I was after regaining the original stiffness to them, jaguars don't supply the part
anymore and new track rods (that I could afford, £80 a side from jags) don't come with them, the only option is the polybush version but I couldn't sus how to get the old ones out.
As it happens I decided to have the rack reconditioned in the end so problem is now solved, so it wasn't a matter of them being better just that's all there is,

Wasn't aimed at your situation, just a general question as it makes no sense to me. Maybe there's something in it, I don't know but I'm willing to learn.
