Default air conditioning layout

OK I have a 1986 xj6. I have been working on this car for a couple years know on and off. I want to put the ac back in but i think I might have misplaced a piece. Does anyone have a drawing or layout or something to show me what I need. I know this sounds funny but I just don't remember having an accumulator in this system. I have a long tube that is attached to the bottom of the condenser...is that what they used as an accumulator/dryer?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Everyone says that the bottom tube is the trans cooler but mine is connected directly to the ac condenser. It's actually part of it.

The accumulator/drier on your '86 should be attached to the radiator upper mounting panel, mounted horizontally. Some earlier models had a vertical mounting arrangement, however.

The lower tube you mention does sounds like the trans cooler. Are the two lower radiator hoses attached to it? if so, it's definitely the trans cooler.

If not, please post a picture

Doug thanks for the reply. Its defiantly the drier on mine it is actually hard line right into the ac condenser and it is mounted right at the bottom. It does look like that trans cooler but it is defiantly not it. Maybe someone along the way has put in a different one than what the car came with in 86. IDK
