HELP! I was driving to work this morning when all my gauges...ALL my gauges stopped working. They are still illuminated, but they all quit on me.What could cause that to happen?

One thing all the gauges have in common is being feed from the same "key on" voltage supply.

Begin by checking fuses. I can't remember which fuse it is but it also powers the trip computer. If the trip computer is working the problem isn't a fuse.

If the fuse is OK then you probably have a loose/broken connection behind the dash

Cheers

Thanks Doug, I'll check it out and let you know the results in a day or two. I have noticed over the last couple weeks that the amp & oil guages have been finicky...

Default also....

There are two other things you can check...there is a multi pin connector for the guage wiring harness which can come apart or get reitance from corrosion. There is also a common ground wire but I don't think its the ground because the illumination works.

ICSAmerica, where is the connector located? Is it a "from below" the cluster item, or a "take off the dash pad" item?

You can see it if you remove the dash pad and defrost duct. Its usualy tucked near the support for the steering wheel. You should be able to get to it if you remove the speedo or tach. To remove them you simply press in firmly and twist.

Talking Twas the fuse that be the culprit...

So following Doug Dwyers statements, I got in my car after work and started her up, and looked at the trip computer...nothing. AH-HA! Doug says it was a fuse! SO, I drove home and got in the mandatory awkward position, took off the fuse panel cover, read which fuse to check, slid it up and down in the slot and...TAH-DAH! Functioning guages!

Lord bless the Jaguar electrical engineering committee for building in such frustration, and instant relief for their electrical systems!
