Per the title, anyone have knowledge of a tubular exhaust header for XJ6? I see different ones available for XKE, 150 etc, but none for XJ6. I know there likely wouldn't be much of a power increase, but I'm guessing there would be about a 30lb weight savings at least. These cast iron manifolds are crazy heavy!

there is, but I cannot remember their name, (something like XK Engineering) in the UK. They can soup your 4.2 until it melts.

My comment would be, simply, why?
The iron manifold on this DOHC is pretty durn good. If any thing, it is the pipes up to the Y that restrict.
If my car was still DOHC, I'd think of a fix for that. The iron manifold has two outlets!!!
Pipe each back to the front mufflers. Alas, I have CA SMOG to consider. It would flunk!!!

Am I confused ? On LHD cars, the pipes and steering share space in the engine bay.
In RHD cars, pipes top the left, steering to the right? Simpler.
I squeezed In tube headers in the project before the Jaguar swap. A flat head Ford V8 into an "A" Ford chassis. Imperfect, but done.
I swapped in a set in my 69 Toyota FJ40. Worked great. With a single glass pack, it was reasonably quiet, yet clearly present.

The reason I want a tubular header would really be weight. The cast iron exhaust manifolds look like they will flow almost as effectively as a tubular header, but together they weight like 55 lbs. A header would weigh about 12-15 lbs.
Seem to have my text divorced from my picture and do not know why.
Why not make yourself a set?
Xcessive sells the flange and Columbia River Mandrel bends sells everything else you would need to make some.
The picture in the previous post is some homemade headers in 304 for a v8 hot rod with a Jag IFS - the round thing in the middle between the tubes is a dummy shaft going to the Jag steering rack. This set is far from equal length but the engine compartment in the XJ6 looks roomy enough to come close.
To model the equal length headers, you can buy a 'header lego' set from ICE Engine Works to mock one up before you commit to metal.
Be the first with xj6 headers. You know you want to.

PS do you know why the XKE headers wont work? I would look at Summits return policy and maybe give them a try.
