B pillar interior light wire routing
Can someone tell me, if they know off their head, the route for the interior light wiring? I'm troubleshooting the lights not coming on with the door open. All other doors work as intended. I removed the switch and directly connected the purple and purple/white wire and still nothing. So I'm thinking there must be a problem along the wiring but before i start tearing my interior apart I'd like to know where to look.
thanks!
thanks!
I attached the pages from S57 for interior lighting. You don't say what door switch isn't working. I'll guess its the driver door. There is a diode in there to limit lights that come on with the driver door, I think that's what it's for. I suppose it could be that.......
Thanks for that wiring diagram but I've got a series II car.
Regardless, what I was wondering is which way the wiring harness runs? under the dash and out from the console? Or along the rocker panel? And are there any connections in that driver's side harness that anyone knows about?
When I connect the purple and purple/white wire together (bypassing the driver door switch), the lights still don't work (but they do work normally at every other door). So I'm guessing I have some sort of break between between the switch the b pillar/light.
Any other ideas? (Before i tear my interior apart)

On most Jaguars of this era, the wires run along the cant rail (the rail at the side of the headliner, which usually just levers off, being held by spring clips). No direct experience of your model though.

Hello, Andy,
Do you mean the Pillar Lights?
If so, they are fed from Below, wiring traveling through the sills from forward.
From that point I have no idea as my car hasn't had a problem there, and I disabled most of the door switches with Jose's hack some years ago (to save the Unicorn lenses while working under the dash with door(s) open).
And if it ain't broke, I don't mess with it.

Update!
Thank you for insight about wire travel/placement.
But what I thought was a broken wire was actually a broken switch (That I broke, ironically, cleaning it with Deoxit) AND my confusion about the wiring at the driver's front door. The lights worked before but I recently repainted my car and while putting the door jamb switches back in I decided to do some maintenance on them. And messed up the driver's one.
But my confusion was also related to my car, a 1974, which had two extra wires on the switch for what I presume are a seat belt and key in ignition warning buzzer and I wasn't troubleshooting the correct wires. Wiring was made more confusing by the original owner, seemingly more than 40 years ago, disabling these features at the seat belt location, which I'd previously discovered these wires disconnected and I guess the ignition switch? Again, I'm not certain what the 2 extra wires are for on the driver door jamb switch and guessed seat belt and key in ignition warning.
Anyhoo, correct wiring diagrams are essential and short of that, a keen mind for wiring (which I don't have!)
