My experience is that there are a few more differences between S2 and S3 dash. If I'm wrong, please correct me. The S3 dash has "Close for Max Defrost" stickers under the two outboard dash face vents; the S3 dash has a different "idiot lights" panel in between the tach and the speedo; the S3 dash has a hole for the catalytic convertor light that the S2 doesn't. I installed an S3 wood dash in my S2 and put an electric fan light ON in that particular hole.

Looks great! I have the same color combo, this is great inspiration for how mine will look when done.

Bill
Yes, the idiot light panel is very slightly different.
Australian delivered S3 cars did not have a cat warning light.
I ran that car for over a decade and nobody ever "twigged" the difference.
By the way that dash panel was re-veneered in Tasmanian Burr oak and it was so close to walnut nobody ever "twigged" that.

Dash panel was son in law, olive wood veneer and polyurethane spray.Body panels were in same condition as when I purchased the car 8 years ago.
