if it is the same as in my 1984 XJ-6, it requires cutting the hood release cable, so I gave up removing it and repainted it in place.

The handle itself comes off easily.. I just do not think that it what he is really asking?
Photo of me and my dog is extra.. mistake using cutting tools from parts manual...

Hello, great write-up. Can you please be more specific on: "The harness connector has to be clicked into the service position..."?
