Default Brake lines

Someone pulled out in front of me yesterday and I had to hit the brakes hard, locking up and screeching to a halt. Unfortunately this has burst the flexible hose to the caliper on the front drivers side (Left). I can find XJ6 parts all over the place but nothing for an XJ12. Are they the same part number?

Thanks.

I don't think they are different as the brake calipers are the same on both cars.

Does your front line have a "spring" round it to protect the line like this: -

SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist

Where you have to be careful is this is the period when Jaguar were converting to metric brake lines. So the VIN number of your car is crucial in determining which brake line you need. I remember with my XJ6 Series 3, the workshop manual had a couple of paragraphs on this and how to identify the threads, (UNF/Metric. They pointed out the two are very similar and one can be fooled and use the wrong fitting that would fail under brake pressure.

Yes it does have a spring around it. I believe the change to metric was in '75.

Thanks for the link and caliper info. I had wondered if there were bigger brakes on the V12.

They are the same. There isn't a major weight difference between the all aluminum V12 and the Iron block I6, think it's less than 200 lbs. This is not unusual, I also have had the BMW e32 series of cars and early on they cam with both I6 and V12 and the brakes are the same on that series also.

The V12s had slightly wider tyres, 215 instead of 205.
