Default Brake Pad Recommendations

What do you have to say on the subject of brake pads? I am about to order and was going to go with the metallic ones which are lowest cost. My thought was the pads are easily changed, whereas the rotors are not so easy (I am working on the rear axle with cage removed), so, I am not sure if metallic is the way to go i.e. I believe they are harder on the rotors (pardon the pun!).....perhaps a softer more forgiving pad material would be best approach i.e. wear out the pads and try to preserve the rotors......again, given that the pads are easier to replace.. Comments?

Very different market down here and suppliers here you no got.

In all my Series cars I used a EBC Maxistop, and in the rears TRW Standard compound.

Like you I did the rear rotors, and really did not wnat to go back there again.

The front rotors on these are no walk in the park either, mongrel task.

The Maxi are toughish on teh rotors, but the ones I fitted in 1998 are still just fine, and 140K kms.

The rears are on the same pads as 1998, and are at 50% worn and the rotors are almost as fitted.

Bear in mind I drive a LOT more quietly now I am a LOT older, so that is a major contributor I reckon.

Many versions will be given, that you will need to sort for your market, driving style, willingness to do it all again at some time, based on the choices you make now.
