Broken differential breather

Broken differential breather
Just finishing up the rebuild on my IRS unit and noticed that I managed to break the breather off of the differential. Guess I wasn't careful enough while wrestling that beast around! The elbow snapped off flush with the housing. My searches show a replacement part #JML631 and #8501 for the elbow, but I am having trouble tracking them down. I am assuming that this breather must be important or it wouldn't be there..otherwise I would plug it. Does it really build up that much pressure??? I'm sure that others have dealt with this little breather unit... what else did you do? Where did you find it?...or how did you modify it? Advice is always appreciated! Thanx in advance.

The breather is important. A clogged breather causes lubricant to be pushed out the seals. So, plugging it is not a good idea.
The breather for the X300 (1995-1997) differentials is definitely still available. Pictures of those can be found in the X300 section. It is a capped elbow with a snap-ring retainer on the inside of the differential. Is your differential the same?
