Default Car Jacks

I need to get under my 1984 XJ6, but my current floor jack wont cut it. The car is almost three tons and my jack is two tons (used for another car). I was wondering if I should by a new floor jack or get one of the bottle jacks. I have never used a bottle jack and any advice would be great.

Your car basically weighs 750 lbs at each tire..so the 2 ton jackwill work fine if you are just jacking up one corner at a time (unless it's wore out)...Then prop it there with a jack stand and move to the next corner.

Well put Dennis. I use floor jack anytime I can. So much easier than bottle jack and much faster.

I Should have did my homework..My mind seen 3000 lbs and it seemed more normal, as 3 tons is a little too much as I thought..Like Bo said, what's in the trunk?

Specifications of the 1979-1986 Jaguar XJ6 Series III:
Length, inches: 191.7/200.5 (European/U.S. models)
Wheelbase, inches: 113.0
Weight, pounds: 3,860-4,065

Hence: 2 tons, or 1016 lbs/ at each corner
