Default central locking issue!

Hey folks, my issue is that when i try to lock the car, everything works but the passenger side front door doesn't activate enough! i have dismantled everything in the door and no matter what it just doesn't seem to move enough! of course i can do it manually from inside, but even from the outside using the key on the passenger door i cannot make it lock!!!!

I did not have this issue before car was painted, could i have possibly put the lock cam on wrong?? i have tried flipping it but it seems to put rods out of reach of holes!

any help greatly appreciated!!!!

Is this an XJ6 Series 3 ? As far as I know they didn't have remote central locking or am I wrong ? As I remember the central locking was invoked from turning the key in the driver door.

This problem does seem to be an assembly error, but very difficult to sort out over the internet.

Yes, its an 83, you are correct also its all.controlled from the drivers side key, even with hand inside the door i cannot manually push the rod from the lock relay servo thingy enough to lock the door! Always has to be done with the paddle by the handle...

The lock solenoid itself is adjustable fore-aft....which may be of some help in fixing the problem but I can't imagine that this would have been tampered with in the process of painting the car.

I wonder if there's a fault with the solenoid itself ? Some sort of mechanical issue where it is restricting full movement? Stuck half way or something?

Cheers
