Default Changing Trunk Latch

Has anyone changed the trunk latch on a series 3? Looking to do it myself, plastic bits broke so the latch stopped working. Thanks in advance.

what plastic bits broke?

I have dismantled mine a number of times and I do not recall any plastic pieces?

can you post pictures of the broken bits?

Please update your signature with the Year and Model of the car so everyone knows what car you are asking about.

Thanks Jose. Sorry, don't have pictures handy right now. But the actual latch on mine (83 XJ6 VDP) had a plastic cover on it. It broke and wont close anymore, and to me it seemed like the broken plastic part is what pushes the mechanism into a locked position.

I've purchased a new lock, and will attempt to install it today. Anything I should be aware of? Did it entail extensive wiring work? Did you need to remove panels?

Thanks again!

no wiring, it's all mechanical. But I still can't figure what part it is that broke, because they are all metal parts.
