Chrome Alternative
Hello everyone.
I've got some chrome wheels on my car but they're starting to go rusty. I bought them brand new 4 months ago. Assuming I get no joy from the company I bought them from, what else can I do with them ? I really like the chrome look so want to keep this kind of look if possible
Cheers in advance

Chrome is not just chrome ..there are varying degrees of quality with chrome. Best to get the best you can afford after doing some research on the subject of "types of chrome plating". especially for wheels, considering the beating they take.
I had some chromed Kents on my XJ6. The were factory stock Kents that had been dealer flash chromed. Did not last,.. they seemed to pit/rust on the fronts only, which led me to believe that there must have been a chemical reaction between the chrome and the accumulation of brake dust on the front wheels . Having rear inboard brakes and a lack of dust/pitting /rust on the rear wheels has led to this line of thought.
In another thread on this site I have posted pictures of my 1983 Buick , it has factory chrome rallye wheels on it, the car is parked under a cover but outside and the wheels are rust free . I keep a good coat of wax on them.
Still in really nice condition after 33 years.

Yep, they are Cragar Smoothies. The rims are going rusty and the hub caps too. Really quite annoying because I polished them up before I put them on the car and also put a layer of grease on the inside of the hub cap so that they wouldn't rust from the inside out in years to come. Fat chance of that eh !
