Smile Thanks, Guys!

Doug:
Thank you very much.

Carl:
Illustrated report will be along hopefully later this evening. After husband crawled out from under, he wanted to Get Outta Dodge, and we went to town for a Very Expensive pizza. He's Such a sucker for cute little girls selling tickets outside Walmart, or K-mart, or the Library or the local grocery store. The tickets cost $2, were for $3 off a pizza at a certain place in a different town, but the pizza was $28 by the time we got it, not to mention travel cost!!! And it wasn't that good!! But the very next cute little girls selling tickets outside a store, he'll get out his wallet and buy tickets, or candy, or overpriced cookies, or......

Yes, the existing calipers were bad. Just sitting there, they spontaneously leaked out all the fluid in the system onto the shop floor!! I was SO disappointed when I found that, I can't even describe it!

Rhonda contributed a couple small parts, but mostly a pattern of how things Should be, which turned out (not surprisingly) not how he found them. We'll still keep that IRS unit though, and rebuild it at our leisure, because it's in Much better condition than the one under Nix at this moment, and being so many years newer, doubtless has many thousand fewer miles on it.

amaezing:
They Are cute, aren't they. Thank you. But they had better stop more than hearts!

Richard:
I need to get a One Day Permit as her registration ran out in May and I was forced to put her on Non-Operating status. There are a few little details left to deal with, but after those are resolved, Yes, she can get her feet on the ground again. I can't wait!!

Steve:
Yes, That will be a day of celebration in this whole entire neighborhood! All the neighbors are Well aware we've been holed up with this project for Way too long. They'll be dancing in the streets with us.

anjum:
Thank you. Yes, it certainly has been a Very Long overhaul, Way more than I envisioned in the beginning!! The tension now is that so many things were done and couldn't be tested as they were "finished", so almost all of this is unproven. We have already had a couple failures, fortunately minor so far, but I'm almost literally holding my breath for the next shoe to drop.

Clarke:
The report will probably come late tonight or tomorrow. After husband got out from under, he doesn't even want to Think about rear brakes for a while. However, Expensive pizza and a couple quarts of substantial beer are mellowing him fast.

We'll Both be Wild and Free! (at least until the next thing breaks) I can hardly wait! I'm having serious SPEED withdrawals! Wart does OK for Wart, but he handles like a PIG!

At the moment we're bleeding brakes. The whole entire system was DRY, and I want to be Sure there are no bubbles lurking anywhere. We've already run a full pint of fluid through (that means THROUGH! Into jars at the bleeders!).

Husband won't sit down and tell me what he did exactly until that's finished. However, a full report Will be forthcoming.

Elinor & Hubby:

The word came ! Shoen!!!

Hubby is doing just fine. Likes cute girls. he has one!!!

Reward him with a quart of a good beer, not domestic 'lemonade" to go with that pricey Pizza.

Oh, yeah, temporary operating permit. Got a bunch of those while my car was going through it's initial "teething" issues as to SMOG test passing. Yuk, got my DMV notice . Jaguar's turn this year! Sickening....

Thank you, Carl,
I looked up Shoen as I'm not familiar with the term. I don't understand what you meant by it, because all I find is a Japanese reference or the man who founded U-Haul.

We planned to get a one-day moving permit to get her SMOGGED, but if the temps are for longer than one day, that would be Great!! I'll have to look into that.

As I'm not a beer fan, he chooses his own. So if he didn't like his beer, he has no one to blame but himself! LOL

Congratulations Elinor on what has obviously been a long journey - reward in sight! Can't wait to see your report. For me there's so much to learn about the SIII, so little time. Have to stop thinking back on the X300 layout, the only thing in common is a wheel in each corner!

Thank you, Tony!
It has indeed been a Very Long Journey. All I have to do now is lasso husband from his euphoria so he'll tell me what he did! There wasn't room for both of us under there, and besides that, he told me, "Go away, woman, and leave me alone if you want to drive your car any time soon!" So I went away and left him alone!

@ only thing in common is wheel on each corner!

Ask hubby. Tis pronounced shane. A slangish word for approval. Adopted by us, kinda like "Macht Nicht" . pronounced by us as max nix.

CA got wise to "temporary operating certificates" and went to 30 days only. Still not all that bad. Better than a day at a time. but, you gotta pay the full registration fee. Mine is $84.00.

Thank you, Carl, it's all clear to me now.

We got the brakes properly bled today, and I have a Rock Hard peddle. Husband said that had to be done before he would sit down and tell me how he did the brakes.

You got off easy with only $84!! Nix is nearly $150! But she's worth it.

Elinor:

$150!!!! Ugh, something is wrong, one way or the other. possibly, I am getting away cheap. I will just live with it.

But, were I you, I'd inquire. A mere clerk will not likely get you anywhere. Although, some are far better than others. Gotta go up the chain. At one time DMV had a helpful Ombudsman, I wonder?

And, if you have AAA, at one time, they would work out DMV issues.

PS:

Epiphany. Your original registration was $150. Sales tax. Renewals are registration only, much less. Two parts actually, one tax deductible, the other not???
