Default CO value to high.

Hello!
I need to get my car through inspection, and the CO value is too high (needs to be under 4,5 mine is 7,0).
Does anyone have tips for this? How do I tune my carbs to Lower this? It doesn’t matter if the car runs like a bag of peanuts because this is the final inspection, I can tune the carbs afterwards and never have to think about another inspection!

I’ve heard that ethanol works to lower the CO. And also changing the oil in the car, it’s been standing for 30 years so maybe I just need to drive it?
any tips is appreciated!

Fresh 10-30 oil, change back to 20-50 in the spring
Pick the lowest fuel tank and add "carb / injector cleaner" from auto store. Put in twice the recommended level. Use this tank only for inspection. Fill tank after you pass inspection. (mostly alcohol)
If you have new plugs good, otherwise a high speed run up a long hill will help clean out things.
Fully warm engine, adjust carb mixture screws in 1/2 turn ea. at a time until engine is slightly ruff, back of 1/4 ea. until just smooth.

If this gets you down to 4.45 your ok, If you are still over, it will be something more that just adjusting.
Good Luck
David

Yes leave cleaner in during inspection, and add more gasoline to tank once you have passed inspection. The cleaner has Alcohol in it (excess O2), and it helps in the combustion to mate with CO to make CO2.

Move to New Jersey. 25 years + old = no inspection necessary. Which is great bc the people who do inspections could give 2 f@cks about our cars. Some starving buffalo leaned on panel while hooking up equipment to engine = permanent tattoo of that ****** elbow to this day.

haha if only it was that simple, I live in Sweden here we have to go through inspection no matter where you are. But when the car is 50 years old it’s no longer required once it passes

Default More problems..

As I had my hopes up for inspection, it seems as if my car had other plans..
when trying to start it this weekend, I was met with a carburetor pissing on the floor.
when i finally got it started we went to fuel it up but it died on the way, got it started, but had to pump the gas all the way to the gas station.

after taking apart the float housing and giving it a run in the ultra sound washer and a bit of adjusting, no more pissing and the car doesn’t die on me anymore!

I also replaced the blinker seal, positive battery cable, fixed the lock to the right fuel tank, reinstalled the pipe from air filter to the engine (I don’t exactly know what it does or what part in the engine it is for) and fixed a brake-line that was rubbing.

Default Finally!

I got it through inspektion.. i tried to run on the carb cleaner but when i got to the inspection the CO was still to high, but the inspection man let me tinker with the air/fuel mixture screw and we got it down to 2.0 (all though the engine was running like a bag of peanuts) but it passed and I could make it run better after!
