Default Common issues with the fuel injected 4.2?

I've read many old posts about rough idle issues. Are there other issues this engine, trans, body, chassis can produce? Common adjustments, things to check, etc.? I'm wanting to make sure my 82 is tip top because my wife has taking a liking to it. She asked me if she could sometimes drive it to work which is a 60 mile round trip. Want her to be safe and I've always been a preventative maintenance guy.

In my experience the FI system has been nothing but reliable and dependable, with the ONLY issues being replacing the Cold Start Injector two times and replacing two maybe three fuel hoses at the fuel rail. I have replaced the Oxygen sensor once because the warning light came on, but once I learned that the light comes on every 25 thousand miles regardless, and that you just push a reset button located in the trunk, I have never replaced it again or had the need to replace it, the system requires no tune-ups. This is the Numero Uno reason I have kept the car for 25 years so far. I almost did a Doug and sold mine like he sold his pristine 1986 red XJ, a car he regrets selling, but I stopped myself and I am still having fun !

In a jaguar that did not get the care afforded the care of Doug or Jose, I'd
look into the following:

1. Cooling. Water pump, belts and hoses, clear radiator, fan coupling.

2. Electrics. Starting down under with the strap from the transmission to the chassis. Then cables. Battery at both ends. Post to solenoid. Then, smaller wires. Starter relay. Coil, distributor and amplifier. Clean, tight and lubed.

3. Fuel. Tank supply and return lines secure, tight and not leaking. Injector hoses. healthy, not dried out, awaiting a split and bad things.

4. Brakes. No leaks in master, calipers and lines. Adequate pad thickness. No side pulling on application.

5. All lights function, especialy the brake lights.

Carl.

X2 on fuel injection hoses, replace them all! Even the ones in the trunk!
