Here's a few pictures I took when converting my 1985 Sovereign ( which came with / still had factory 7" outers ) from replacement regular sealed units back to ones with replaceable H4 main bulbs with city / side / pilot lights ( small 194 bulbs below main bulb ).
I used the WIPAC bulb housings, Hella H4 bulbs, and Orange LED 194 bulbs. The picture with them on is just the "side lights" which look almost like orange/yellow fog lights with the main bulbs off. The previous owner had cut off the side light plugs in the buckets but left the wiring in place. I reconnected the wiring and used the side light plugs that came with the WIPAC housings. The only down side is that the side lights are on anytime the parking lights are on. They look cooler in person, almost like the cat has glowing orange eyes !
Cheers,
Brian

[QUOTE=XJsc-guy;2471589]Question- where are you getting the actual 7" chrome trim- the metal piece that goes around the headlight and bucket in the fender?

Not at all unusual - in fact it is the original and correct factory configuration, shown here on a 1990 V12 Vanden Plas (Canada specification); the flat lens outer (H4 bulb) and domed lens inner lamps (H1 bulb):
and on the same model, this one being one of the very last 1992 cars:

Great answer. To the point. Your car looks fantastic. Thanks, Ren

Thanks for the information and photos. It is very helpful. Ren
This is what I used. Other than slight trimming to allow the spring adjusters to enter the original mounting plate, everything went in smoothly. Plus, they look amazing (I think so anyway), Unless you remove the headlamp, you cannot tell it's not original. I used the headlamp that incorporates what they refer to as a "position" lamp. I call it a Daytime running light (DRL) and use it as such. It's powered by a relay that takes it's signal from the white wire running to the ignition coil, so they are on whenever the engine is running. When the headlamps are selected on, a separate relay interrupts the DRL power and they switch off. Works for me. I found that unless I was running DRL's here in Canada, other drivers just did not see me.
I also had to trim/grind 1/8" off the circumference of the adjusted so it would sit in the7" bucket (that came from some model of Triumph car - I cannot recall, perhaps a TR7) The adjuster is sold as a part for a motorcycle!
Here is a pic. (sorry about the quality) I have since switched the 5 1/2" original inner lamps for Hella units to match the 7" outers. All lamps are powered by individual relays that receive their signals from the headlight relay fuses, so thereby removing the headlight switch from all that current for the lights passing thru it.

Yup! You will Never fry the main relay finding yourself in the DARK (I can tell an exciting story about that) nor overload a fuse.
