Correct way to close SIII bonnet
I seem to be missing something. Zippered back pockets on jean clad gals?
Perhaps, a locality issue.
The rear end of our Cars and those of some gals do have a resemblance. I'd better stop there. The term used is .......

Jose, was it you that posted something about replacing you bonnet locking pin springs with somewhat weaker ones? If you did, you may consider selling them in kit form. I cannot find anwhere up here (Canada) that supplies or is even interested in helping me. Ian
Why would you want Weaker pin springs???
The spring on Trucklet is Very weak, so that it almost won't clear the latch.
Jag springs at least let you get your fingers under the trailing edge to lift the thing.

I can address that, Elinor. There are two sets of springs for the bonnet, the counter balance springs which are right behind the grill. And the pair of smaller springs that are over the latching pins close to the windshield. The following is about the pin springs.
At one point I couldn't get the bonnet adjusted correctly (must have tried 100 times). I'd drive over a bump and one side or the other would pop open. I tried everything. So I took one of the pin springs out and built a jig to measure how strong the springs were. Springs are measured by how many pounds it takes to compress them 1 inch. It is expressed in inch-pounds. Turns out the stock Jaguar pin springs had a pressure of 20 lbs EACH. So when I pulled the cable release the bonnet was popping open with 40 pounds of pressure. Way overkill. So I ordered a set of springs from Grainger rated at 10 lbs. All dimensions the same as the originals. Installed them and have not had any problems with the bonnet since. And it pops open the same as stock (plenty of room to reach the finger safety latch).

Hi, can anyone who replaced their pin springs post the dimensions or part numbers used, I'm thinking of replacing mine as well and want the new ones on hand before taking the originals off.
Thanks !
Brian
Thanks !

I found the information. The springs are 2.5" long (uncompressed) and 1" outside diameter. The factory are 20 pound rating and I am using 10 pound which work great.
Below is a part number but before I get to that when you are ready to install them first carefully measure from the bottom of the bonnet to the edge of the metal cup at the end of the spring. Then when you install the new ones you can set them to the correct length and your Bonnet latches will be adjusted correctly.
Grainger apparently doesn’t carry the exact spring I ordered any more but they have one that is .975" OD that might work. A little tiny bit smaller. I suggest checking to see if it fits over the little metal cup. Also they are sold in pacts of 10 apparently.
Click HERE and you will find a button on the right that takes you to the suggested replacement. I hope this helps
