Any suggestions for the correct removal of the cruise control solenoid caps...1987 XJ6.....I can get them to move up a mm or two on one side..then seems that they are locked in "solid"...not sure how much force is acceptable here.

It's been years and years so don't put total faith in my memory but I recall prying and prying until....grrrrr... I met with success.
Have you seen this? There might be something in it that'll help you

Thanks Doug....no real info in that link...just, quote, "pried off"....I'll give it a more firm try tomorrow....prob. an easy find/replacement if I bust it.

I've only removed them once but if I remember correctly you pull them and turn them, there is a 'notched' area which keeps them from coming off.
all the trouble I went through cleaning and troubleshooting was wasted, the problem was the roller switch in front and to the right of the shifter, it needs to be correctly adjusted for the Cruise to come on.
