That's quite ambitious. But why? Nothing special about an AJV8. Not particularly reliable or powerful and a mountain of serious technical problems await you. A better Jaguar choice is the AJ6 / AJ16 and their derivatives.

I haven't heard of any major issues with the AJV8 series of engine (other than the 4L) I have a 2005 4.2L.

Cant be that bad of an engine its been used across many models internationally and has masses of potential.

What issues are you aware of?

The only issues I was aware of with the AJV8 were:

Nikasil Cylinder liners caused by high sulphur fuels.
Water Pump impellers
Plastic timing gear failure
Throttle Body issues

I don't think the first is an issue any longer, at least in the US with lower sulfur fuels. The latter three are relatively easily dealt with. Perhaps I was just lucky, but the 99 XJ8 I had was one of the most trouble free cars I ever owned!

As for the ease of a swap or dry sump, I don't have a clue!!

Sump issues have been dealt with in the past and recent time sans going to dry sump. Dry sump isn't really dry, merely a smaller sump.

What is the issue? Front deep part fails to clear the cross member?
Classic issue in other critters from way back. Dealt with then
and can still be done.

Move the pick up and adapt the sump, (pan) in USA speak. Easier in tin, but quite doable in alloy....

dry sump is alot of modifications, and expensive parts!
are you sure you need to go that route?

but if so, Summit/Jegs have many components, to put together a setup.

but seems someone on this site is familier with D/S for AJ8, check 550hp in engines&transmissions! Iblis

Dry sump was just an option I was looking into.

Yeah front fails to clear cross member.

I've also tried a range rover sump but that fails to clear the rack and pinion.

now considering modifying the cross member and sump...
