Electric window motor compatability
Hi everyone,
I'm looking at buying a replacement electric window motor (passenger front) for my series 1 Daimler and wondering if a series 2 motor will fit?
I havent been able to find much on the subject. Grateful for any assistance.
Cheers,
Dan.

Going on a hunch here mainly.
The S1 and S2 both had front quarter windows, albeit the S2 were sealed, which made the balance of the opening window mechanics the same??.
I see no reason a S2 motor will fit and work in a S1.
I did fit a S2 motor in our XJ-S, and although fiddly, it was a 3 bolt mount motor and meshed OK, and worked just fine, so maybe Jaguar did not re-invent the wheel in this area with each new model back in those days??.
The lift mechanisms will probably be very different, but I read you are talking the motors only.

I'll add my hunch to Grant's hunch :-)
Back in the 70s-early 80s I *think* Jaguar used only AC Delco window motors. This might help you with your search...as you can Google the subject and look at various pics.
Further, I *suspect* that Jaguar selected an off-the-shelf motor rather than specifying something unique/specific.
If you have a well-stocked parts supplier in your neighborhood you could probably plop the old motor on the counter and find a match-up. An experienced parts guy with a good memory of the old days (and willingness to open a few boxes rather than just look at a computer screen) would be helpful here :-)
Sorry I can't offer anything concrete.
Cheers
