Hi all.

I'm new to the forum and trying to find out which engine I have? I know its a 4.2, but there seems to be a difference in that some are 133kw and some are 153kw. How can you tell the difference? Can anyone help?

The car is a 1986 XJ6 Sovereign 4.2.

What do you mean as to 133 or 153 KW's

 

When looking for parts, I see this and I am not sure if my car is 151kw or 133kw. I just wondered if there was a way to find out this information?

I see you are from Australia. I believe all the cars imported to Australia were the 153kw versions.

I agree that you almost certainly have the higher powered version. This is due to high-versus-low compression ratio. North American cars have lower compression engine. Virtually all others ("ROW"-rest of world) got the higher compression engine. The engine number would confirm.
