Tips on removing the IRS Exhaust Pipe from the Resonater (?) Sleeve
Haven't posted in along time since the car has been running great. But September and inspection time came and the e-brake wouldn't hold so I 'd fail. Going to take the opportunity to refresh the IRS.
First step is removing that zig-zag exhaust pipe that goes through the IRS. I got the forward side apart no problem but I can't seem to budge the slip joint. I have the clamp off. Exhaust pipes are in good shape so trying to avoid damaging it.
Any tips on how to break that joint loose? I have been hammer tapping on the joint for a while and have prised away the sleeve tips a tiny bit and would have thought that would have broken the rust loose, but it doesn't seem so.

You will proaly dmage the pipe, one way or another in order to split mthat joint.
As Jse mentions, use a deruster, Tap to get any caplilary action to assist \\heat if possible to break any rust bond. Twist if possible.
Use a sharp chse t cut a slt or possibly two.
The bent parts cn be restored if you get the jint to split.
Plan n gettig new pies.
