Default Erratic RPM

Started yesterday...when warm, the RPMs will become wildly erratic, bouncing up and and down a thousand or more and ultimately stalling...I may have displaced a vacuum hose while I was underneath bypassing the oil cooler so I will check them. Is that a likely cause, or something else I should be looking at?

thanks!!

yes, also check all the connections from the front of the air intake "trumpet" to the intake manifold "butterfly", particularly the 90 degree elbow connecting to the intake.

also the small hoses under the fuel rail, some can separate themselves from the nipples.

and if none of that gets it, may be time to replace the O2 Sensor.

I agree that the air intake ducting is a good (and easy!) place to begin.

To clarify, this problem occurred only after your other work? if so, then yes, retrace your steps and look for anything amiss, including elderly wires that might've been disturbed.

Cheers

Thanks all! Got everything plugged back up and no recurrence so far, so hopefully we are in the clear!
