expensive hobby!
I'm noticing a recurring theme here that I've seen in this section before:
*When fixing a Jaguar, buy the best parts you can afford at the time and don't look back. Keep doing that until you've rebuilt the whole car.
*Jaguars aren't driven for their economy, they're driven because we're addicted.
*It's a fantasy to think one will Ever get their money back that was "invested" in a Jaguar. You have better odds playing the Lottery.
*When you do finally get it fixed, DRIVE THE THING UNTIL SOMETHING ELSE BREAKS! At that time, start over again.

I've had this one about a year, have put into it ..three tranny's, the entire fuel system(still have injectors to do), and a bunch of other stuff. I never accept a reciept from anyone. I don't know and don't want to know.
Today, the wife said "let me guess.... your car needs something". I just smile or laugh without her knowing. I love my car... It's that simple!!!!! I do love her too, but dam I love that car!!!!

That gives a whole new perspective to my "little project!"
I don't feel bad at all now!

My brother didn't go through that many when he was drag racing the family station wagon!

The one in it went bad right away, then I got a used one that went bad after about 3 months. I rebuilt it and so I'm actually on my third.
People keep asking me if I'm going to repaint it soon(cause you can see the laquer cracks). They don't realize the extent it takes to strip it all off. You might have gotten a good deal at 23k, depending on what all you did. I'm guessing you put in a different motor since you say restomod, that is quite an expense if you have someone else do it.
Money and Jaguars !!! Two ways to look at it. The best one is "don't".
But, that apples elsewhere, on other things and cars. Boats, computers, slund systems, houses.......
And, at times, cheap = expensive. But, expensive doesn't always mean good.
And, I have a tidy "store credit" at Rockauto. Came from my starter adventures. What will I do with it????
And, a probable battery warranty at Autozone . Same issue, I have a battery in the thing that works, at least, so far.

buying and building 500hp 350c
buying and rebuilding 700r4
all needed for engine swap
new wiring harness
extensive rust repair
new front and rear fascias
rear fender flares
rebuilt brake systems
rebuilt suspension systems
back to bare metal respray w/ house of color paints
That lets me know what I'm in for ultimately, one piece at a time. Well except for repainting, as it doesn't have that thermoplastic gunk, nor are any other body panels needed (baring a wreck).
Engine was swapped in 1986, we're doing brakes and re-rubber, and - I don't Even want to know what's been poured into it till now!
Everyone needs a hobby they say, I suppose owing a Jaguar is as safe and "cost effective" as any, better than some.

LnrB:
Not all Thermoplastic fails. Mind still looks good. No crazing. Shiny when clean except.
1. Slight scratch on left rear fender. keyed by a miscreant before it came to me.
2. Parts of bonnet just slightly faded. More polish and waxing needed.
3. Ever so slight nick on boot lid. F150 bumper when it needed a push onto the garage after catastrophic engine fail
4. Bent leading edge of LF door. Jag vs Jeep kiss. Lucky me, it didn't squash me. In "matching" brown primer for now and for....
5. Teeny bubbles on lower LF corner of wing. Rust, yup, but hasn't changed since I got it.
Polish and high carnauba wax make it gleam.
