Hi all,

I've recently relocated to the east coast of the US (Boston, specifically) and am looking for any tips on experienced mechanics out here who are familiar with the many many eccentricities of my Series III XJ6 from '87. Shockingly, no immediate problems with it as it currently stands--just looking for someone reliable to keep in mind.

Any help or recommendations you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Eccentricities? Yes.

Impossibilities? No.

The downloadable service manual with S57 electrical manual coupled with some assistance from the forum can get you through most issues that may arise. Your 87 being one of the "cream of the crop" makes your journey more manageable. I understand it's not for everyone and respect anyone who knows their limitations on time, tools, money, space, and experience. The knowledge can be found here, the rest is up to you.

These cars are a hobby as much as a mode of transportation. Extraordinarily satisfying, both.

If a mechanic is your desire, I'd seek out a small shop with "aged", experienced owner/employees. If not familiar with your Jaguar, they will at least have a better understanding of its construction. Supply them with the aforementioned manuals for greater success & lower cost. If they have to search to learn everything from scratch, your wallet will suffer.
