The piping is sewn-in. An upholsterer would have to remove the old stitching and piping and sew-in the new piping. Thus, it should be perfectly doable although surely time consuming.

Once in the far distant past, when I was in college and had more time than knowledge of such things, and certainly lacked the equipment to do it correctly, I used a nail polish brush, and carefully painted piping by hand.
It was a tedious job, but I was young, had a rock steady hand and was "determined" (read, Stubborn).
It came out Not Bad! Looked really good in fact, I was pleased with the results, and although no one else seemed to be impressed, it was MY car and I was proud of it!

I spent some time to learn how to use GIMP and came up with these Two Tone options and previews for a Daimler Double Six in Claret over Black:

Also, am thinking of adding piping to the (cream) leather seats. I was thinking of Claret over cream.
Finally, I know a very clever local cabinet maker, willing to create a decanter and glass holder, to fit in the centre, from the front seats all the way to the backrest, effectively transforming the Daimler into a 4 seat only. At the front it would open forwards, hinged between the front seats, and at the back it would open at the top, hinged under the hat rest. We found a refrigerator that would fit perfectly inside the front end of the cabinet, between the feet. The rearmost portion, between the seats and the beck, would hold a vanity or ... (no cigars, please, I do not smoke) ... ?
If you were going two tone, I would go with the first one. For the interior ideas, take a look at a 1996 Daimler Century interior. That was a 4 seater car.

I sent it to my cabinet maker who replied that, while he won't be able to reproduce the exact same shape, as my seats are slightly different, he can fabricate a frame to be covered in leather, that could lay over the rear seats' central cushion, to reproduce that image.
However, his idea, to me, seems a little more interesting. No leather. He suggested a cabinet made of polished burr (trying to match the door inlays). He suggested that we remove the cushion between the two seats and remove the rear arm rest. The the cabinet would then be set in between the two seats. The front end would rise between the front seats, with a flat surface with cuts (to measure) to hold two glasses. The cabinet would then slope gently backwards and down. The front compartment, raised, with the flat top, could fit a refrigerator (we measured it) or - if I prefer - inside it could be cut to measure for glasses and decanter. This forward portion of the cabinet would rest between the feet & legs, on top of the transmission axle. The top flat part would not only hold two glasses, but also be the lid, that would open tilting up and towards the front. The second compartment would be shallower (depending on what we find in between the seats when we will remove the cushion), and would reach all the way back. It would sit where the centre cushion is today, and the current arm rest too would be eliminated. This compartment's lid would be hinged at the back, and would open tilting up and backwards. The cabinet maker suggested to cut a cigar holder, and a vanity set holder, but I detest cigars, so I am thinking of adding electric plugs to hold mobile phone etc.
Can the central cushion be removed? I have not checked. Below is Giuseppe's own sketch.
Unfortunately, he said that he can't re-create the picnic tables. Any idea if later models' seats will fit in a Series III ?

Can anyone confirm if the chrome fitting, around the base of the XJ12 series II LWB vynil roof C pillar would fit around the same C pillar base of a series III ?
(I could not find an image of the fitting on LWB, but the position was the same).
Tommaso, Forget two tone on a classic XJ saloon. Hideous. The only Jaguars two tone suits are mark 10s and marks 8 and 9. If you want picnic tables, buy a car already factory fitted with same. Anything else will also be hideous and home-made looking. Here endeth the rant!
Picnic tables are difficult, as they need to attach to the seat frame. As Series III never had them, the seat frame wasn't designed for an attachment point. They are pretty, but useless. I had them on a 95 VDP and never used them. They can really only be used when the car is stationary, and I don't sit in the back of a stationary car very often.
I do agree with Greg, I don't think the 2 tone suits the XJ body.
Ciao Craig! You won't believe the coincidence but I bought a DHC Corniche from this dealer, when I was living in Japan (2000 - 2017) - I lived in Shibuya and the dealer is just off Setagaya! He focuses on exports, and he's a reliable dealer. I strongly recommend him to anyone who is thinking of importing a motorcar from Japan.
Anyway, yes, I get the point, and thank you for your constructive criticisms. I appreciate criticisms, especially when they run counter to my discernment! Transforming my Double Six into a chauffeur limousine, while I will be using it with my wife and daughter driving it personally, for all purposes, is a waste, and pity. Better keep the originality of my Double Six, as it's not a DS420.
Well, if Craig and Doug are both not in favour of a Two Tone scheme... who am I to go against these two Guru's opinion?
I bought my DS420 in Japan, but not from that dealer. I bought it at action and had it shipped to Canada. Mine is all black, but someday I want to paint it in that colour scheme.
Maybe keep your Daimler as is, and if you want the more individual style look for a Daimler Majestic? Those used the Century style interior, but were a bit later. I know they made them with the 6.0 V12, not sure if they were also made with the V8 cars.
