Finally fixed the pig-rich condition (leaking injector). Now she won't idle under 1800 in park, or 1000 at stop lights. Going down the road, you have to ride the brake sometimes to keep it under 30.
I've had this problem on a V12 XJS before and cooked the brakes; don't want that to happen again. Suggestions?
Super rich mixture would create a low, blubbery idle. Since it was super-rich before your repairs someone may have adjusted the idle speed just to get a somewhat decent idle condition and speed.
Now that the root problem is fixed, and the fuel mix back to normal, the idle speed is too high
So, try simply adjusting the idle speed at the adjuster in the air distribution block

You remember the car correctly. We've had all kinds of rich issues, low MPG, the whole deal. Now we don't have that, thankfully. What I never knew, though, was actually how to adjust idle speed, since I never did it myself. The shop always did it. In response to your suggestion, for instance, I wouldn't know where that particular adjuster is if I didn't see a picture. I'll try to find an image online.
Thanks. I've heard it's hard to get to with everything on the car. I saw on another board some people cutting an Allen wrench and permanently gluing the wrench into the socket, then using a box wrench to turn the Allen wrench.

7/32 Allen wrench, heated with propane torch, bent in a vise to this configurations, gets around most of the obstructions
