Hello dear friends, further to my running rich posting, I took the car to a Crypton Tuning Engineer. He managed to adjust the idle mixture and it has helped. He suggested that as the sensor is the original and they are renowned for contributing to these issues. This agrees with Doug's previous good advice. However, the engineer told me to be certain to fit the correct sensor which are colour coded, mine has a white body and he said to order the white version. I did notice that the loom connection to the sensor has a label saying WHITE on it so there may be some truth in what he says. My problem is I have not seen any versions that are colour coded in the parts lists or SNG Barratt's site. I would be grateful for any advice regarding this part DBC3728.
Kindest regards, Danny.
Interesting; first I heard that the color might be significant. Over the years I've used white, black, and brown versions, from various suppliers, with good results. My assumption was that the color was simply a decision made by the manufacturer with no bearing on calibration/operation.
I'm on my first cuppa coffee but I'm nearly sure that Jaguar (and aftermarket suppliers) have rationalized several different part numbers into just one or two.
At some point, perhaps still, Jaguar sold the 3728 with a black body, as seen in the pic.
Thanks Doug, he did say that the sensor was matched to the ECU and identified by colour, and of course, it seems to be backed up by the wiring loom label. I might ask a local Jaguar dealership for their opinion.
Kindest regards, Danny.
