Default Fuel return plumbing question

Hi all

86 SIII

I want to remove fuel return valves in rear wheel wells to inspect but my tanks are both near full

I was wondering where the return pipe actually is position at the tank. If on very top, removing valve should be easy. But if pipe entrance is below fuel level in tank I would expect a bunch of gas pouring out the hose if I disconnect valve

Thanks

Randy

They enter the tanks at the very bottom, sorry.

how are you going to inspect them? It is a hassle to remove them, might as well replace them.

Whilst this is true, one can clamp the flexible hoses at either end and then remove each valve for testing. The tool to use is the same as sold for clamping flexible brake hoses when a caliper is to be removed.

Thanks gents! My thought was to clamp off as plan B too

They were replaced by PO a few years ago but car not driven much. One is whining a bit and I am guessing not opening fully

I gotta get em off either way if I replace or try to fix

I was told that a good cleaning and back flow might tevive
