Fuel sender/gauge failure.
When i replaced my fuel tanks in my XJ6C of 1975 i had the pump replaced to the more modern internal pumps. They work fine. I also replaced the fuel senders behind the rear lights with originals. Apparently those second hand parts did not work properly because the gauge kept the level reading on 1 quarter with very slight movement to empty from full. Using the km counter to figure3 out when to get fuel, not ideal when empty is a little less that a quarter. I just bought two replacement senders from Eurospares through David Manners in the UK and fitment was easy, when the tanks where drain, only holding 5 litres. These senders have 3 connectors but no reading where to put which connector. Other forums stated top one is ground, middle is + and lowest is almost empty tank sign. And there it goes all wrong with my wiring. The red/green wire is obvious. The black is obvious to and the XJ6C doesn't have a empty tank warning. The package from Europspares doesn't have instruction. The sender unit doesn't have signs where to place which connector and i haven't a reading on the gauge when i filled the tanks. Where does it go wrong?
