Funny parts anecdote
I daily drive a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado, and recently picked up a non-running 1987 XJ6 with the intention of using it as a winter car, although now that I have it running it cleans up pretty nice, so we will see. Anyway, the Eldorado's alternator (probably original) died, and when I got the new one installed it appears that the belt tension bolt hole was slightly overdrilled. Dang it, have to order and wait for a new one, a few more days of uber etc. Happened to look over at my workbench where I had recently removed the air pump bracket for the XJ6. Surely not.... but the big bolt that attached the air pump to the bracket fit the overdrilled hole on the alternator perfectly. Don't often feel like I get lucky/blessed working on these old cars, so thank God for this one!
Hopefully have the Jaaaag back on the road this weekend!
