Default Gearbox Fault

I have a 2006 Jaguar XJ6, which runs perfect when cruising but hates being in slow, stop/start traffic. If I’m in slow traffic for more than 10 mins, I begin to hear the the car hesitating between 1st and 2nd, then it will lurch between gears, then the ‘gearbox fault’ messengers will come on, followed by limp mode... have I got an expensive job on my hands😕

Firstly welcome to the Forums.

Please do an Intro in the New Members Area when time permits.

Your XJ6 is known as an X350, and waaaaaay more advanced than any in here.

Jaguar used the XJ6 naming from 1968 to near present time, depending on the market the car went to.

A quick re-post in the X350 Tech Section, will get you the good info.

My first thoughts are, change the trans fluid, its 13 years old now, and stale fluid reeks havoc in any transmission, sealed type or standard type.

Good luck.
