grill colour??
anyone have a close up picture of the grill under the bumper on a series 3? I am trying to figure out if its supposed to be chrome, a brushed aluminum look or black, as i can sort of make out all 3 on mine!
Any help at all would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Darren

Just been working on that area...cleaning rads, ac condenser and electric auxiliary fan.
Looks like non magnetic stainless to me.....bottom "rail" is bright and all the other "rails" are a chemi-black finish (very hard finish), showing many small bright pin holes....Black prob. to provide a small additional radiative effect. If it is aluminium (oops! aluminum) then it would have corroded away by now.
Anyone really know what all the different bright stuff on the Series III is? For example the climate control air grill is a plated "monkey metal" non ferrous bright plated die casting, really very well done. Not like the crap plating on my (plastic?) X Type grill...peeling badly now.
I doubt if some of these types of plating processes can be legally done any more.
