Default Hanging a Series III Bonnet

Hello!
I'm going to remove the bonnet of my SIII to do some work. Since it may be off for a couple weeks, and I don't have much room, I'm thinking about hanging it up. It looks like there is a "crossbream" brace near the back of the bonnet with large holes...any reason I couldn't throw some S-hooks in those and hook chains to mounts in the wall? (See attached picture, credit to Welsh.) Perhaps with something soft under the grill so it doesn't scrape on the wall?

Any thoughts or experiences appreciated!

BR

It's a heavy item, so put plenty of padding on before you put hooks in. Also protect vulnerable points too so the paint doesn't get damaged.

What I do is take the grill out and rear pins off, with the hinges in the closed position put the hood in place with some rags along the sides and at the back, put a couple bolts in the hinges by reaching through the grille opening, do a "fairly close" alignment with the rags in place and tighten a few hinge bolts. Then you can tilt the hood open and carry on, makes it a one man job. I can hold the hood on the front of my thighs and lower it down in place like this, no help needed. I think I lower the rear down first then let the front down carefully. I've done it quite a few times this way.

Geez I should read a damn post before answering it! 🤦‍♂️

Careful your hooks don't gouge the outer skin when hanging it on the wall. I'm sure those holes would hold it fine.

Thanks guys - it worked great! Removal was fairly easy too. I made some nice marks around the hinges so hopefully it goes back on easy as well. Pictures attached.

Hopefully your engine project doesn't take too long but the chains holding the bonnet look like they will safely support it for decades!
