hello everyone,I'm a jaguar enthusiast and the proud owner of a 1977 xj6 coupe.
The 4.2 engine has been rebuilt by VSE and has only 3000km on it,not even broken in.
I am experiencing problems with the rebuilding of the Su Hif7 carbs.
I read the SU workshop manual carefully and I discovered the tightness of carb piston/suction chambers is a MAIN concern.
They indicate a test to check that tightness.
Problem :I checked my pair of SU carbs and both pairs of pistons/suction chambers are out of range.

Does anyone know where I could find those spares,or rebuild HiF7 or a metal process to improve the tightness of my carb piston/chambers???

It looks like this failure (which must be very frequent on all SU carbs) is hardly unknown by most car restorers.
I would be very interested to discuss this question with someone who worked on it.
Many thanx.
