$32,250 USD.

I think it is becuse of the repair cost, and rust factors associated with Jags, and trying to find someone to work on them is the reason for the reduced value. I think of it as a benefit to us though, we can get a complete parts car for the price of a few parts if you have a place to store it.
I don't have that "parts car" though and I'm really thinking about rebuilding my motor now, but I don't want to be without my ride for a couple months.

i'v had three Jags, two were given to me just to remove them form the property.

#1 was 1966 E-type cost $750. dollars, started knocking,so sold it quick for $500.

#2 1978 XJS roadster V12, free no cost, just get it gone!

#3 1975 XJ12C coupe V12, manual shift 4speed, one of 3 left hand drive V12 manuals(so i'm told),LOL, YUP, no cost come take it out ,title free and clear, signed!

question; how does one place a value on old rust buckets??

or are most old jag owners Masochists, gluttens for punshment?

I reckon the value most of us place on them is intrinsic, not monetary. What others may see as trash, we have the gift to see as treasure. Maybe it's the second sign of madness, but who cares!

Too right Jagent,

Something is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it.

Simple economics.

Their loss, our gain.

The number of people who ogle my XJ6 and then can't believe how much I didn't pay for it is amazing.

You get ahold of me! that's how you do it. I've been doing it for about 20+ years and now I finnaly got certified in it. I've alway told people what they are worth and they get it or more, now when I write it down, it's the price to all. well theres a bunch more to it than you'd think, but I know my sh#@ when it comes to putting a value on a vehicle.

There is truth to this BUT........ if it's low then only the lowballers see it, if it's high then the highballers see it.... that statement is true, very much so, but theres alot of gray area in it. I use to have fun proving it to my wife. Id have two of the exact thing. one i would price low the other high. the low one would sell almost immediatly and the high one would sell almost just as fast. supply and demand doesn't always come into play with cars and car parts. the guy that has 1000 dollars to spend on a part wont even look at the 100 dollar one, he goes right to the 7-8 hundred dollars. she said phsycology or some stip word like that. all i know is that it was crazy.

I have the original first-owner's sales receipt for my 1984 and the total was $34,900.00. However, I am not sure if it says "$34" or "$54".

If they paid $54 thousand for the car, (which I doubt), it was highway robbery which the particular dealer is known for.

Dealers are equal to pond scum!!! I wouldn't put it past them. Does it have an "updated rear muffler bearing" in the upgades disclosure?

Wow just went to an inflation calculator on line. A car costing $34,000 in 1984, would cost just over $71,000 today

I'm so glad that that is coming from a woman!!!
I admit that I am "a person who finds pleasure in self-denial, submissiveness, etc."
after years of being submissive to others pleasure, I took it upon myself to find my own pleasure. It is my jag! I love her! She makes me smile and happy.
I agree YES!!
Were did you come up with this word LnrB? Did you spend years as an english major? The first term "the condition in which sexual or other gratification depends on one's suffering physical pain or humiliation." Im not sure about that, speaking for myself. But I have suffered humiliation when I'm on the side of the road fixing her. Not sexual humiliation. although when she's not broke...completely different story
P.S. the Quotes are from dictionary.com

Right!

But what someone else is "willing to pay" is often predicated on what some other source says they should be paying-- a price guide, a brother-in-law, advice given on a discussion forum.....

Cheers

Might wanna ease up just a wee bit on the dealer bashing. Quite a few forum contributors come from a dealer background, past or present. I know that some of them have stopped, or greatly reduced, participating because of derogatory remarks.

Cheers
