Ignition amplifier and Ballast with Pertronix distributor
I'm almost ready to put my newly rebuilt 4.2 into the coupe with a 700R4 on the back of it. I'm loading the last minute bits on the motor, and just replaced the distributor with a new Pertronix electronic one. I'm wondering if I really need the ignition amplifier, ballast and condensor that mount with the coil? The wiring harness is complex and crusty, been trying to save it, but may be a lost cause. I have a new Lucas Sport Gold coil on there. Should I eliminate a bunch of this crap? Is there any benefit to keeping it? If so, is there a source for new engine harnesses for carb'd 4.2?
The motor ran fine before with this stuff, but I'm eliminating most of the emissions and running 9:1 pistons, Late big valve cylinder head and triple SU carbs from a 420... Pictures to follow.
