Unhappy Installation of XJ6 Series 2 Dash Pad

Pulling out the dash pad was very easy. The same cannot be said of reinstalling the dash pad. It’s a nightmare, if anyone has some hint or video of how to install it, it would be very much appreciated.

Lots of Jag repair videos on You Tube. Might be something there about dash pads.

But where, specifically, are you having a problem?

My experience is with Series IIIs, which I think are the same, and the dash pad pretty much just slots into place.

Cheers

The biggest problem is getting it over the steering wheel.
So, you must start with that side first, sort of. Because, if you remember, when you pulled it out, you pulled mostly straight and slightly up to clear the wheel, and then everything else followed.

When reinstalling the dash cap, get it over the wheel, level it best you can, then with the front slightly higher to avoid the demister vent foams, finagle it into place, making sure the map light wires are in their proper place and the rear lip is in position.
Don't loss your temper.
Easier said than done..............

my dash pad gets caught up on something, we start pushing even towards windscreen then one size jam on the pusher then the other side slides in, i took the two side rails that cover the window support, the dash went i first go, then we reinstalled the side cover rail again, then werte back were we started. The end rubber cover strip on the dash pad seem to cause the jam, it very tight

thanks for your reply
