Default Jagless for 4 days.

Not all threads are about broken Jaguars. Some are just of social interest.
Missed my XJ6 something terrible while covering 1200km in the other "J" car.
I got to traverse the Brisbane River 30'ish times by ford crossings until the uppermost reach of the Brisbane River where I to got have a beer while parked in the centre of the river crossing.
Not often you get to park in the middle of a river and enjoy a coldie. The last time this crossing saw water was the 2011 floods that flooded 90% of Queensland and the water was at 7 meters at this spot.

But upon returning home today the mighty XJ took on the Coles run for groceries.

You would have had the serious shakes, being that long without Fireball.

Nice getaway all the same.

JD in a wine glass, well a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do when you don't have a tumbler or highball in the camper trailer! But we had gas, pork and JD,what more could you need when your Jag is 100's of KM away?

Home grown tomatoes, took them with us. Home made spuds & eggs too!
Just a pity my sour mash doesn't seem to grow in the back yard.

That looks like it was a Lot of fun, Clarke, even if you did have to leave Fireball at home.

A mere 60 miles! Well, in Oz, that's almost right on target!

Clarke:

Sumptious. Beautiful country. Reminds me of my camping days as a kid. But, with much less equipment. And, at times, some booze, but "rot gut" not even close to JD!!! Gallagher and Burton as I recall. Cheap in Juarez, Mexico, but an awful blend.

Usually bacon and eggs in a skilett over an open camp fire. Pan balanced on rocks!! Forgot the lard one trip. Used 30w. it worked, tasted just fine and didn't poison us.
Oh, wrap a few potatoes in foil and bury under the fire. Salted and peppered with bacon and eggs....... Wash the dishes and utensils in a cold stream. Sand scours dirty pans quite well...

Agree, home grown tomatoes are the best, by far. I try every year. Usually a poor crop at best, but from time to time, I hit it right... Lesson, a sunny spot, all day, is an absolute requirement. Did 'em in porch pots this year. Not bad. In spite of AM sun only...

We did porch pots for a few years, but finally decided the back hedge had to go so we could have tomatoes, basil, rosemary, parsley and various other herbs. Sometimes you just have to go with her indoors to get these things right.
Who would have known it would work

I can still surprise you guys & gal! I take pics ranging from the coolest car to the smallest plant/animal.That is why I have 50000 + pics on my PC. I took 1700 pics in 4 days away.

Yeah, my brother does that. Been taking pictures since he was a kid. In the US Navy, he continued his craft. Sends me pictures of flowers and back country scenes.

I fiddle from time to time with my "experienced " old Olympus and Canon. At times, not bad.

This PC and the Canon are fussy as to the down load.

And, posting pictures here, a skill not yet known to me..

I did my time with Pentax 35mm 1968 Spotmatic's then Canon AE1 35mm with (wow auto wind film) but in 2004 with a decent payout from a job I bought a Nikon 4300,really cool then and cost about 5 weeks pay. Now using a Nikon top range but no live screen to save battery power. Using the viewfinder is better anyway.

Way beyond my level!!!

Only commonality: I do use the view finder over the view screen.

My brother uses a Nikon, the top of the line.

Way back, when I started my business career in insurance claims, I used a simple camera. Unheard of to my boss. He was impressed, as was our stodgy conservative HO. .Film, of course.

Much later, I embarked on a newer phase, an independent adjuster. My early efforts with a manual SLR were a flop!!! Then saved by a RICOH programable.
Saved. And then to the digital quaintly primitive Olympus. I was not confident in it's use. I backed it in film.

Still very impressive. Some of my clients raved, others fussed???

Andrew! That was a, "nudge, nudge, wink, wink," remark!

That's why I lead off with, "Very nice pictures" and ended with a toothy grin.

LnrB, this is the trouble with the written word, as opposed to the spoken.... you cannot do a subtle change of tone in the written word, that can change the meaning of a word/phrase so dramatically in the verbal !

I did click a rolling on the floor laughing smiley, but must have clicked post quick reply. not go advanced.
My apology for that.

Only thing available unless a plastic cup or mug would do.
