Just another Twelve Cylinder Wine Rack
Couldn't sell it for cheap, and wouldn't give it away. There's no room in the house for a table, but there is room for a wine rack. Besides, I had to make room in the garage for a new arrival coming in February - 1960 Mark 2.
1) Distributor removal. Just had to save the new trigger, rotor, and vac retard.
2)One hammer test, two hammer test just to break the seal. Swings of the hammer got more violent as the block refused to give up the heads.
3)Archimedes is my friend.
4)Stud forest, careful your hands while removing with a pipe wrench
5)Piston Head, must be an Ohio thing.
6)Spares, ah nuts.
7)Wine rack ready for steaming.
Took the remains for a fitting end at the scrap yard. 670# of sheet steel (I added to the mix) and 170# of cast aluminum - mostly Jag.

My friend and I discussed the "love of assembly" issue as we disassembled the beast. It was easy to see the racing heritage and the desire for smoothness. I knew I would find the remains of the chain tensioner, as it had jumped the distributor jack shaft in 2001. I let it sit for 8 or 9 years before I moved the distributor one tooth and fired it back up. By that time it was running on varnish.
Now the machine shop is razzing me for not having fired the BBC for the last 16 months. Goal for the road is the end of April 2014.

Finally! Still need to shop for wine!
Hot washed, sand blasted, sprayed with adhesion promoter, then urethane cleared. Crank bobs and the main caps are painted with Glyptal. Coated the exposed rod journals with "Fluid Film".
Feet are made from some left over pieces of black walnut stair case spindles I used as legs on my bistro table.

Thanks all, for the great comments!
I've see glass tops supported by pistons & rods. They look cool. Unfortunately, my house is too small.
As my girlfriend would say, "it's done, done".
But then it wouldn't be a wine rack. It would be a nice table though.
