Default Location of fuel pump relay

92 Xjs v12- last few times car wouldn't start unless I sprayed starter fluid into the horns. Once started it ran fine and would restart as long as it didn't sit for a few days. Now even the starter fluid doesn't help.

I'm thinking to start with the relay (hoping it's not the pump) and I recall somewhere on the forum there was a sketch or pic showing the location of the relays/fuses. Any help appreciated.

The XJS layout is different from the relay layout on the Series III sedan V12 cars, but here is a photo from a 1992 V12 Vanden Plas which shows the silver Bosch fuel pump relay and the "main relay" (top centre of photo, on rad rail) which are identical except for the schematic as embossed on the top; the "main" relay powers the fuel pump relay so if either of them is bad the engine will not fire.

Was this of any help, RogB? Or ....?
sometimes I think that OPs who ask us for help but who never acknowledge or tell us if the problem has been solved, are like the one sock that goes missing in the dryer.
it rather makes you feel that you have wasted your time trying to help.

Default Relay

Yes, thank you very much. Was just notified of the reply. Of course the car is now starting ok which makes me wonder if relays can work intermittently as opposed to going bad all at once.

Thanks again very much.
