After spending four hours digging out the Jeep and my kids' cars (with their help of course) I'm done shoveling for the foreseeable future!

Looks like a nice garage in the background.... My 3 Jaguars are in my garage - my wife's Lexus is outside. Yesterday I had to chip away at a huge chunk of ice encasing her wipers. Some of our Forum members are in Australia working on their tan right now. Maybe they will post some pictures to warm us up.

Thanks, Jeff. The garage is the front of my 19th century carriage house. It houses my 356 and MGB while the Jag and Mercedes are forced to suffer the elements along with my wife's Wrangler, which is what we use most often. Can't wait till the snow's gone, and better yet, till winter's over!

I think it was the winter of 54. I was stationed at Todendorf. An AAA firing range on Germany's N. coast.

Record snow fall. My 50 Chevrolet was covered much like Emi's Jaguar. Other cars as well. We did not even try to shovel them free. Just awaited for the snow to melt.

We had a fleet of five ton 6x6's to tow the 90 MM's. Just chained up a pair and used them!!!

Our food stuff was usually brought from Bremerhaven delivered by a German contract carrier. His truck not up to the task. We chained up another pair and four guys to go get the grub!!!! Paired for back up!!!

Well, the old Chevrolet fired right up. It's PO had provided two 6v batteries in paralllel for good cranking..

Which is one reason why we love having Carl around. He always has a nice story to tell :-)

Cheers

Very mild summer in Oz this year. And wet too. Something to do with La Nina or whatever!
The global warming alarmists are strangely quiet.

Emil: Great garage, cars and setting. You have a real trooper for a wife. Hopefully soon I will be driving a similar colored '85 XJ6 from Philly to Detroit. It will be good to be back in a Jag. Ren

Thanks, Ren.

Yes, my wife puts up with a lot. LOL. She knows my cars are important to me and in fact she's the one who told me I should remove an eight foot tall, twenty foot long hedge so I could widen the driveway to better fit the Jag and Mercedes, making it easier to get the Porsche and MGB out of the garage without moving the cars. A great idea that I would never have even dared suggest if she hadn't.

Best of luck in your Philly-Detroit excursion!

Last time we had serious snow like that was our winter of 1962/63 here in England. Last year we had almost none, but had some this year, and needless to say, Scotland has got a lot, and plenty of the ski-slopes in the Cairngorm mountains, but no skiers because of the Covid19 pandemic !
