Manually open sunroof
I think you're in the wrong section to get answers about that.
This section is for the Series 1, 2, 3 Xj6, from 1968 to 1992.
Someone who knows more than I do will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section.

If you have a series 3 car,.. there is a small tool that was supplied with the car when it was new...It fits on the end of the motor that is used to electrically open/close the sunroof.
In the boot up against the cabin partition is where the motor is located.
The little tool looks like the one in the photo.
Handy little thing to have when it is raining and the sunroof does not want to close... I keep mine in cubby near shift selector.
