Mechanic for 89 XJS
I am the owner of an 1989 XJS, the car is in need of some repairs, the immediate issue is the car starts but soon after about 5 minutes running, the engine soon after stalls, also some other issues will need to be addressed. I am looking for a qualified Jaguar mechanic for a side job, preferably a retired ex dealer mechanic that knows their way around the car, as I have tried some mechanic shops but no luck with. The car is currently stored in a garage.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Can be tough to find someone who can do the work. If it starts and idles fine, but has issues as it warms, it may be a sensor issue that is not adjusting to the rising temperature, leading to an over-rich (or lean) condition. This thread has some good things to check, as well as info about how to troubleshoot, if you are open to working on it yourself. The article is for XJ6, but I imagine there are a lot of similarities: XJ6 Series - EFI Rich Mixture (jag-lovers.org)

Good day,
Thank you for your insight, that is great advice about sensor, and temperature affecting the fuel mixture, I did not think about that, which sounds very accurate description, also at this point due to age of car, and condition of the fuel system hoses, I do not attempt to start it up as much, in case of any fuel leaks. Thank you for the links provided also,
Michael
