Default Mirror Control Joystick Differences

Does anybody know what the difference is between the two part numbers listed for the outside mirror control switches/joysticks.
DAC2649 and DAC2648 are the numbers. The latter applies to the VDP.
The reason I ask is that I am putting VDP door cards/panels on my standard XJ6 and I don't think the electrical leads are long enough now due to different location of mirror switches on the VDP.
Are the electrical leads longer on the VDP switch DAC2648?
Anybody run into this issue while doing a swap to the VDP door cards?
Thanks.

are those part numbers entire assembly numbers? or are they part numbers for the front and rear (left and right) mirror joysticks?

If they are entire assembly numbers, then the difference must be longer wires for the VDP.

The 2648 is all RHD applications *and* "USA VDP" according to the parts catalog.

The 2649 is all LHD applications except USA VDP

I agree that wiring length must be the difference

Cheers

Be sure to re use the little zip lock ties that hold the switch plugs together or you may find you have dead mirrors because the plugs have come unattached to each other. If they do ,..you will have to pull the door panels again to reconnect the mirror switch to the wiring harness. These little plugs seem to come apart easily. However I agree the VDP door panels are much nicer. I have a complete pristine extra set from a low mileage 86 VDP with the armrests, snagged from Pull a Part 2 years ago. Talk about hard to find...

yes Alyn, been there done that, but I have accessed the plugs by removing the mirror screws and pulling the plugs through the center round hole.
