Default More Questions of Interchangeable Parts

I have a 1974 XJ6 (LUMP). Went to the junkyard today and to my surprise theres about 6 or 7 Jags!

1. Now, I found some "CBC 2469" lattice wheels from a 1986 XJ6 and was wondering if they will fit my 74? AFAIK they will, but I wanna make sure. Look like this

2. Also, my booster is shot (no doubt). I was planning to buy a refurbished one but found a nice, shiny, new looking booster (with no fluid leaks) at the junkyard on an 86. Obviously its not original cos it looks in great condition.. assuming they replaced it shortly before the car gave up - so is it safe to have a $35 pop at it and hope it'll work?

3. Theres plenty of nice wood dash in various Jags there.. Can anyone provide tips on the removal of a wooden dash trim on a S2/S3? They're interchangeable too, right?

Shouldn't be any problem

Not sure

I think the only difference is how the cluster of warning lamps (between the tach and speedo) fit. Slight size difference? I can't remember exactly.

Thanks for the reply. Regarding #3, the gauges do seem "thicker" if that makes sense, but it seems roughly the same. Hardest part is finding out it all comes off without breaking.

Re the booster, ("servo" here in England)

If it were me I'd try it, as $35 is not a great deal really. Of course it, too, could be shot, but that's the gamble with used parts.

Yeah, I already installed a servo from another donor but that was old and crusty and work for about 1 block lol.. This one looks nice and new so I may aswell try it as a temporary fix.

As to the wheels, yup!! That is what my 83 XJ6 base model wears. Mine came from an XJS, whose owner was upgrading to larger wheels.

As to the master. why not at a very reasonable price. Might take some plumbing adjustment, but the calipers will not care one whit as to where the pressure comes from.

I bought the "Sports lattice" rims off an 86 XJ6 (CBC 2469). I tried putting one on my 74 XJ6 to try and fit and the hub on the lattice wheels is too small and won't fit. Lug nuts seem ok, just not bore size. The width on my hub is 74mm, but the bore on the (what I thought were 1986 XJ6) wheels is smaller - guessing around 68-70mm. Its close, probably a couple MM but does anyone know what size the bore is on the wheel?

Also, I noticed on one XJ6 I got the rims from, the 2 front wheels were not hollow/see through lattice. They were solid and filled in, although still looked like a lattice. Are they different sizes for the front, or why are they filled in and not see through?
